When you're monitoring a numerical variable, you can set a trigger on it using ''[[commands:zone_commands:trigger_add]]'' to fire a command based on its changing value. The command documentation gives more information on their use.

Used in conjunction with the [[commands:zone_commands:new_variable|filter flag]], this can be a useful way for monitoring things like pressure sensors, distance sensors etc...
